It is estimated that 3-5% of Canadians have received an unexpected result from commercial DNA tests that show who they believed to be their parent(s) is/are not, whether they are an adoptee, a donor conceived person, or an NPE (not parent expected) due to a previous relationship, affair, or other circumstance.
Surprise DNA discoveries are traumas. It is our goal to support Canadians who've experienced a DNA surprise to find their biological families at no cost.
Our volunteer team of Canadian DNA Search Angels work with discretion and protect the privacy of all of our clients.
There is NO fee for this service.
Steps:
Reach out for a confidential interview to see if we can help.
You may reach out using the Facebook link below, OR by filling out the form below.
If accepted, you will be placed on a waiting list to be matched with a Search Angel. You will also be guided through next steps if needed while waiting.
When you are matched with a Search Angel, it is important that you are accessible, and willing to answer questions.
If you are already working with another search angel group, we request that you do not double-up, to give everyone in need the opportunity to receive help.
My name is Heather and I just wanted to share a bit of my story. For most of my life I was led to believe that I had a different father. My Mom had a long term affair during her marriage and her heart got convinced that this man was my father, and she said things to let me know it.
It really messed me up, not knowing. When I did my Ancestry dna test I found a half sister and her son as a very close match, which really seemed to point to what my Mom had said to me.
My heart was so sad over everything! The NPE Canada's DNA Angel's Team was such a great help and comfort to me!
Lauren worked tirelessly researching DNA results and my matches, family tree, etc. giving me the answers I needed.
She was so patient and supportive towards me...Rachel also was compassionate and I felt so encouraged in this quest.
I Felt like Alice in Wonderland falling down too many rabbit holes.
It turned out, one of my elder brothers was the father of the lady I had thought was a half sister, she was actually a niece.
My older sister did her dna test also, and I finally had the answer that we are full sisters
So happy, and relieved! All those years I thought I was illegitimate...my Mom was wrong.
I finally have a level of peace I've never known before!
Thank God for Lauren and Rachel and all the precious Angel's! Such compassionate, caring hearts to help others that are hurting in these ways.
I highly recommend them to anyone who is searching for help and answers.
There's no feeling like having real answers and peace at last.
Healing for the heart is such a gift!

I looked at the date, that Rachel gave me your name and you became my Canadian DNA Angel, and it was on my Mother’s birthday, October 18, 2022!
Then I looked at the date, you were ready to share all that you had found and that was October 24, 2022! Just 6 days!
During those 6 days, I endlessly had questions, shared history of my Mum’s life, of Terry’s birth, my whole heart and soul - which you graciously and wondrously and wholeheartedly responded to me with such an open heart.
You are a blessing in my world! I thank you for the generosity of your time and your ‘Sleuthing” as you shared, you love to be doing! All as a volunteer. Thank you!!!
All while doing and being in your own life! You are Amazing!
Thank you, thank you - 10 billion light years of stars in the cosmos, worth!
Canada, and the DNA Angels are totally wonderful. Mine are Michelle And Rachel!
Blessings of love and light to you both, in doing this wonderful work. I hope others find you so you can help them as you have helped me.

For anyone still looking for their genetic connections, I recommend the DNA Angels.
My Canadian angel confirmed my suspicions of who my bio father is and located 2 likely half siblings I had not found on my own. Not an easy task as one is living in Asia. My bio father is dead. Now I am considering contacting the siblings to see if they are willing to take a dna test.
I can’t recommend the Canadian DNA Angels enough: I was handed a dossier of family trees, newspaper clippings, marriage and death notices, tax records.
Best of all it was done in a few days with discretion and tact.
